Even if you start your stack by counting up, don’t forget that you can switch the direction that your stack is going. You can even go back and forth to get the best combo possible.

The game will highlight cards that can be played on the first three levels, but after that, you are on your own. Generally, you will get one undo per level. Some levels will give more or less of these as you progress. You can keep Wildcards in between hands, so don’t feel pressured to play them right away.

Clicking on the Magic Deck button will show you your progress towards completing the deck and winning the game. The score screen at the end of each hand will show you how many more hands remain in that stage. Achievements are earned for completing tasks within the game. You can view the ones you have earned, as well as the incomplete achievements, from the View Awards button on the menu.

Online

The View Awards button is also accessible at the end of each hand. See if you can collect them all. Solitaire. This represents the bulk of the game, but Avalon is not quite like the traditional card game you know. You will always be building a stack of cards around the Foundation Card at the bottom of your screen. You can play any card that is one above or below that Foundation Card. Aces are low, but Kings count as one below an Ace.

As in the traditional game, the cards on the board are arranged in stacks. You can only play with the top card of each stack. In order to get to the lower ones, you must first use the top cards. Unlike the classic card game, you do not need to clear all the stacks to finish a level. Clearing the board gives you a large score bonus, and it can sometimes be critical to getting the score needed to finish a stage.

will sometimes appear on the board. They are white with a blue text. Unlike normal cards, you can see what they are even before they are flipped, but you must still clear the stack to play them.

Wildcards won’t be added to your Foundation Card. Instead, they go to a separate area for you to play them later on.

They can be played on any Foundation, but must be followed up with cards according to normal rules. Hands end when the board is clear of stacked cards or when you have run out of cards in the Draw Deck. If this happens, simply click on the End Hand and Save button to finish the round and head to the score screen. Most rounds have more than one hand, so don’t worry if you don’t do as well as you had hoped.

You will have to play all of the hands to finish the stage, but once the objective is completed, you will be able to advance, regardless of your result. You should still do your best, even when the hands don’t matter. Getting gold early is key to being able to get the upgrades that you need quickly before the endgame hits. These extra hands are also great times to collect Wildcards and Magical Cards without having to worry about extra objectives. Combos occur when you make 6 moves without having to flip over a card from the Draw Deck. Keeping stringing together moves for as long as you can to get the best score possible. Once you are out of possible moves, click on the Draw Deck to end the combo.

Using a Wildcard will not count against your combo. Combos are the key to getting the scores needed at higher levels of the game. Gold is earned from clearing cards and from finishing levels. Clearing a stack from the board will net you bonus gold.

Finishing a stage with a perfect rating gets you the most gold possible, but you will still earn a smaller reward for finishing with less than five cards. The shop can be accessed in between hands to use the gold you earn to get powerful items.

These are very expensive, but make the game much easier in the later stages. The Rabbit’s Foot and the Deck of Plenty are two of the most cost effective upgrades in the game. Some cards on the board will appear encased in granite blocks. Before you can play these cards, you must find the Magic Hammer Card. The Hammer’s location can be seen before it can be played, but it must be uncovered to get access to it. Once it is uncovered, the granite cards will flip over, and any cards directly under the Hammer will be flipped as well. Often the Hammer will appear in between two stacks.

This means that it must be revealed on both stacks in order to use it. Clearing the Hammer quickly should be a top priority.

Leaving the granite cards on the board is a severe handicap. Cards that appear coated in a translucent layer of ice are Ice Cards. These cause snow to appear on other cards on the board. Just like granite cards, snow covered cards can not be played right away. All of the Ice Cards must be cleared from the board before the snow will be cleared. Unlike the Magic Hammer, the Ice Cards follow normal card rules.

You must play them onto a foundation card, and you won’t be able to see what is below the top card in the stack. Just like the Magic Hammer, Ice Cards should be a priority, but clearing them can be a bit trickier. This is a good time to use Wildcards you have saved up from other hands. Magic Cards will appear in some stages.

These are the key objective of the game. You must collect all 52 in order to beat the game. To collect the Magic Card, simply play it as you normally would. They obey all the standard rules of the game. If you have not yet collected it, the Magic Card will flash with an arcane purple glow. Magic Cards earn twice the points of regular cards when they are cleared.

As you collect them, they will replace their non magical equivalent in your deck. This game lacks a map or overworld section. Instead, you are given a bit of story and taken to the next stage. Stages get harder as the game goes on, so using your skills and knowledge of the game mechanics becomes even more critical. Always remember to check the stage objective at the beginning of each level. Sometimes it will be a curveball. As an example, Stage 2, the Icy Peaks, requires you to get a perfect hand.

Your score is irrelevant on this stage if you can’t clear the board at least once.
